I'm in the process of really trying to clean up my car before I do some stuff to it on my 21st bday coming up and I noticed there is a little rust built up my on myffler. Anyone have any secrets or really good suggestions for effective ways to scrub it off?

get a new muffler. or steel wool it off and paint your muffler, but IMHO that looks like butt

Would I have to paint it after I cleaned it up?? Can you recommend a muffler that will bolt on to my stock exhaust that will sound good and look good for the lowest price? I really don't see a point in getting an entire cat-back exhaust at this point when stock spec v pipes aren't that bad and max gains are usually 1-2 hp for about 500 dollars :\. That's just my opinion. I suppose it would help out in the long run after more airflow mods.

well....i thought u were going to to the full package, like headers, catback. in the long run its worth it. u could just steel wool the muffler. it'll look like it has scratches all over it unles u paint it. but then it still wouldn't look as clean. look good and lowest price isnt hard to come by. buy sound good. now the question is do u want to sound like a bee? u can get a straight back muffler from bay for liek1 5 bucks tops, but it wount sound right. it might look nice though. im not really that great with brands so i cant give u any.

I want a header, but I just had my stock manifold replaced by nissan.. going to pick it up in 30 minutes actually, lol. Also, i'm not 100% sure how tough our emissions are here (Illinois).

there is a product you can buy at like restoration shops that actually kills rust and hardens it back into like regular metal, then you just sand it down a little and youre good

just go to the dealer ship and ask them about their price on the nismo header for street use. that one had the header cat in it. ive heard of people getting the race ehader, and leaving all the emissions to the 2nd cat. idk if that would work for u cuz im not sure if spec-Vs have 2 cats. the nismo street header is if u still want that cat. if not get the hot shot header instead of the nismo one. they run for about the same price. hot host is the best header for sentras.

Yeah, the 2nd cat on the Spec V isn't really a cat. It's mostly a resonator. I found out that it's not that hard to get by with emissions, here. They only do a computer check on newer vehicles and fake sensor only costs about 25 dollars. I'll have to leave the hotshot for later, which i've researched a lot, because I'm ordering a Nismo R-Tune CIA on Friday :). Thx for the 411, though
