i have now d15b vtec jdm obd1 . i decided to swap with b16a vtec model (obd2) 1997 jdm. so i have question
can i use my harness and change the ecu only (p30) or i must install the engine harness and use the obd2 ?

I think you need to use the obd2 harness and run OBD2 to OBD1 conversion harness and then your ecu. If you use your harness you will need to do different changes to both, the engine and the wiring, as obd2 has more sensors and I think a different dizzy.

to save myself from typing a full page post, im going to break it down simply, just because i know you have access to the internet, you can read and write english, and you know how to search.

basically, there are two ways you can swap an obd2 b16 into a obd1 chassis. you can go obd1 or obd2. im just going to explain the obd1 part.

get a engine wire harness from a 96-01 teg. you can use the b18b1 wire harness, but, you will need to rewire some wires. anyways, plug this wire harness into your driverside shock tower harness. im going to just skip how to run the obd2 part because you live in egypt and im assuming you have no emmissions laws there. also, you will be happier with the obd1 path. throw in an obd1 ecu (i used a chipped p28), and you are set.

if you decide to use your stock obd1 civic wire harness instead, there will be a few wires you must reroute in order to fit the obd1 harness plugs into the obd2 engine accessories. been a while since i done this swap but, off the top of my head, you will need to rewire the o2 sensor, distributor, injectors, and alternator (if anyone else remembers if theres anything else, please add it on).

also, you will need motor mount brackets from an obd1 or obd2 teg. for the rear tranny bracket, you can use a 99-00 civic si bracket. if you want ac, then, you will need a b20 (crv) or b16a3 (dohc del sol) ac bracket. your top civic tranny mount can be reused. pick up some integra axles (94-01) or civic si (99-00). also, a 99-00 civic si shift linkage will make your life easier. thats pretty much it. im amazed i even still remember the swap that well, cause its been over 5 years since ive actually done an obd2 engine swap into an obd1 chassis. if i forgot anything, please add on.
