2000 laredo speed sensor question.. help!!

my check engine light came on after the jeep started shifting a little funny, it wouldnt change gears as soon as it did and sometimes to quick.. checked the code and it was comunication loss with the speed sensor. i changed sensor and then cleared the code but then the check engine light came on again ..any ideas? thanks in advance
