Aerobuses were something else. They are classified as trucks even though they're based on the Marathon and Superba cars. Most Checkers were sold as taxis, either for city use or, as in the case with most Aerobuses, airport shuttle use. Some Checkers were sold to the public as regular cars.
There are many Checker collectors...and they are a very devoted bunch.
Checker built its final car in the early 1980s, but the company still exist and they supply body panels to GM.

nice cab. the pizza place down the streat is named checkers and they have one of thm with the logo on. it always parked out front

I seriously wish I knew that much about cars. Like the detective in Gone in 60 Seconds, when he says something to the effect that '83 was the first year for auto ride control on the Eldorado. I wanna know all those little things! I guess I need to get studying :)
