I Just Recently Got A 99 4.0 V6, And I Have A Couple Questions.
1. My Wife And I Noticed That Sometimes, Not Always, It Sways Slightly Side To Side As I'm Driving Down The Road.
2. I Have A Soft Top, And I Have A Hole In The Top Right In The Front Driver Side, Just About The Size Of A Cigarette Butt. Any Ideas On How To Repair It Would Be Greatly Appreciated.
3. Why Is The Gas Tank So Big, But The Mileage So Small?

3. Why Is The Gas Tank So Big, But The Mileage So Small?
1: High center of gravity with a short wheelbase. Any little gusts of wind or change in the slope of the road surface will be felt more than in most other vehicles.
2: Its probably not 100% repairable. Im sure you can get a patch of some sort, even if its just a piece of duct tape. Maybe someone else will be of more help here.
3: Its a square box. Look at the shape of the windshield, grill and rearend compared to other vehicles. Not very aerodynamic. On top of that, the 4.0 inline six (not a V6), while it is torquey and reliable, isnt the most fuel efficient engine design.

If you've got large tires on it, then that will affect your mpg. My wife and I had an 02 6 cyl w/manual, and got 23 on the highway.
As far as repairing the hole, I haven't seen anything out there to do it. I'd think though that some epoxy or Gorilla Glue (or similar) and 2 small swatches of fabric(one for inside, one for outside) from a similar top material would do well.
If all else fails, you can always pick up a new top for between 4-800 depending on what you want.

Right Now I'm Looking To Get A New Top. Not That I Don't Want To Repair The Hole, But The Color Of The Top Looks God Awful On The Base Color Of The Jeep. (picture Deep Indiablue(purple) With A Dark Tan Top) So I'm Looking To Get A Sunrider Top In Charcoal Or Black Denim.
THE JEEP WAS ORIGINALLY WHITE, BUT THE PREVIOUS OWNER PAINTED IT THE BEAUTIFUL COLOR IT IS NOW.

I got a Bestop for my 97 a few years ago, it was very quiet and easy to do the replacement. If it looks like crap, why bother repairing when you can have a new top delivered in a couple days....

It should loosen up after awhile and get better mileage.
Hopefully.
