My best friend is getting married in 2 weeks.
He lives in the sunny south of France so i really havent been able to help much in terms of organising this wedding, nor has communication been easy, he's a hard guy to get hold of.
Anyway, he's going to be wearing white - yes, white - and he advised me to wear something light-coloured but not white. What frigging colour should i wear? Im not crazy about light grey, so that leaves... cream? Help!
And my best man's speech isn't faring much better. I know, I'm going to be the worst best man ever :shakehead

"I met YYYY back in 19--, and we became friends at ----. We had many adventures, and quite frankly, I never thought he would ever get married. He once (insert funny and slightly embarrasing tale about friend). But he's changed since then, and I understand that he is very lucky to have met XXXX, who by all accounts is a very fine woman. They obviously make a handsome couple, and I wish them all the best in their new life together. So let's raise our glasses and toast to the newly married couple, XXXX and YYYY Lastname.
Remember it's not about you today, but about them. Wear your light gray, which will contrast well against his and her white. Cream, orange, and light blue will make the bridesmaids think you're :gay:. But considering you're in France, things may be different.

I'd go in light yellow.
At my wedding a couple months back, I was in all white and had my groomsmen(and best man) in traditional tux's with yellow vests and bow ties.
Yellow is my favorite color.
...and it doesn't make you look gay.

Id wear a BRIGHT orange colored one, just so in the pictures, if you're EVER in the picture, people will look at you first because you'll stand out. :lol2: It'd be hilarious especially if you're just in the background standing there, people would know its you.

Thanks. There's a little something in there that i hadn't thought of :)

i had a feeling you were from the future...

I did think about a cream or light beige kind of colour, but actually i've done a complete u-turn and bought a light grey suit
yeah, i know. i was just saying i don't really like them but this particular one is pinstriped and does does look very elegant... not too light and not too dark, just right. and i can also wear it to work, which is good cos i dont want to spend £350 on a suit that gets one outing... think i might combine it with a light pink shirt, that will definitely go, and be ideal for summer... just need to get a tan first so as not to look like a pasty Brit :icon16:

I typed "orange suit" into google images, just for shits & giggles, and this is the first pic that comes up:

dammit.... typo demons struck again.
y'know, i was thinking that cream/biege wasn't too bad....
i had it in mind with a pale blue shirt but something about that seemed a bit too well, del monte so i kept my trap shut.
but what do i know, i'm an architect; my wardrobe only comes in black.

One piece of advice: DON’T GET DRUNK BEFORE THE SPEECH!:nono:
One question: will the wedding/reception be held outdoors?

Not drunk, but definitely a few drinks for dutch courage ;)
The wedding will be held in a church, the reception in a chateau. So both will be indoors.

Speech writing tips:

http://www.speech-writers.com/B//weddings_bestman.htm
As for what to wear, ignore what your mate has told you, wear a well cut suit and light coloured shirt (no tie). Get your hair done at Toni & Guy (or similar) on the morning and you should be good to go

Traditionally, the groom, best man and groomsmen should look the same.
Just like the bridesmaids and the maid of honour should look the same.
But the bride should blow them all away.
I'd post pics from my sister's wedding, but, well, it's me in a tux, and my hair is average.
Oh, do the speech BEFORE you get into the champagne. You have been warned.
Also, don't mention the stripper from the bachelor party.
Or the groom's mother.
Or the fact that you had a threesome with the two above listed individuals.

Nice researchin there homie.
That first grey suit looks good. I don't see why cream or beige would look bad. Definitely stay away from the baby blue, it looks to "Dumb & Dumber" if you know what I mean. I'm sure someone would make fun of you for that (if that movie even made it to that part of the worl).
