I been hearing that the Earth will change in 2003? Is this even true because they are talking about planet x orbiting next to the earth? Man I hope that this doesn't happen to planet earth and the rest of the solar system, Becuase this is getting freaky:eek: Did u watch the news there talking about a ASTEROID COMING TO EARTH IN THE YEAR 2019. Well that all I got to say. Any Thoughts?

The Earth changes every year... it gains about 2 million tons of space dust (if I remember correctly). As for the ever-splendid idea of a twin planet to Earth on the same orbit, I was fairly positive that idea was dismissed years ago. If there was a planet of relative size to Earth on the same orbit... especially on an opposite part of the same orbit, the Sun should so signs of the pull from gravity. Now, we may never actually be able to prove this in my life time, or even my children's or grandchildren's... But as technology stands now, I was relatively certain that we had dismissed that theory.

Russians want to build a laser satellite to take out any asteroids that want to crash into us!
There goes the planet!

I'm worried about the stupid Russians building a laser satellite and not beacuase they'll use it on us, but they will make some stupid mistake and all will be lost!
Oh well.........maybe there will be AF in heaven?

Actually, lately, I've been hearing alot of news stories about several near-misses we've had with some really big asteroids/meteors (can never remember the difference between an asteroid and a meteor). Apparently, there have been a bunch of them that came at us from the direction of the sun, which means it's almost impossible to detect them because our telescopes are in essence blinded by the sun at that angle, and they don't find out about the near miss until AFTER the asteroid/meteor has passed us. A couple of them have been inside the moons orbit, which is an EXTREMELY small margin when speaking in terms of astronomical phenomena.
Plus, I expect that this year or next, the ice shelfs are going to melt (but that's just my morbid, uneducated prediction). There was that big one (about the size of connecticut) that broke apart a few months ago, and if the same thing happens to the Ross ice-shelf, they expect sea-levels to raise 15 feet...
