The Warranty

I bought a 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 in 2005 with 18K on it. I now have 29K on it and it is time for my 30K service. The new car warranty expires in 7K miles and the extended powertrain warranty (I bought it as a certified pre-owned) last until 75K miles. Now here is my issue. I have never own a car with this low miles before. I own a Ford Tarus and a Chevy Astro with well over 100K miles. Due to the nature of these cars I have learned to perform all maintenace services. After reading the Ford warranty manual, I'm scared to work on my car, in the event I need to use the warranty. I looked at the 30K service in the service manaual and it is well over $300.00 to have the dealership do it, when I can do a better job for $57.34 that is the exact price I paid for the parts. Does anyone know how you can do your own service? One thing I noticed in the manual is the need to use ONLY a Motorcraft fuel filter for this car and that a Fram filter will expire your warranty. That is what I heard. Is that true? Any advice appreciated. By the way I usually watch the dealership work on my car and I'm usually telling the tech how to do the procedure, which is very sad =(.

Just an FYI these are the expensive items the 75K powertrain covers.

1. Oil Pump
2. Timing chain (gear or belts)
3. Water pump
4. Bearings (front-wheel)
5. Bearings (rear-wheel)

Transmission
1. All internal parts
2. Seals and Gaskets
3. Torque Converter
4. Transfer Case (including internal parts)
5. Transmission case

I think this would work. Just replace the filter with whatever brand you want and keep the old one. If the something goes wrong and you need to use the warranty put the old filter back in the car.

the only was ur warranty will stay in effect if is u have a certified mechanic do it, i've already tried to talk to them about my brother in law doing mine and they said it would void my warranty. u have to have the reciept from the place where u have the work done, and it don't have to be at the dealership.
