Hi I am new to the forum and would like to thank you in advance fo any info you will be able to give me. O.K. now for the fun!! When I am driving the car from cold in the overdrive position as soon as the engine and trany warm up (about 15 minutes) the trans functions fine as long as I dont have to stop. If I have to stop after everything is warm the trany seems to forget what to do . It will not return to first gear. If I move the selector from 1 to D to R it will engage . At first I blamed the trany but as I began playing with different ways to drive it in different gears I am thinking it is something else. Because if I drive in D not overdrive it will drive all day with no problems no slipping or anything. I have done some research and have begun to think about the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) or some other solinoid. So this is my deal. Any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks Dirt

First thing I would do is make sure that the linkage is tight and in the right place. Seems like it is alittle off and when you have it in overdrive it may be right on the border of neutral.

Get yourself one of the $30 code scanners, Actron or whatever brand, read the instructions, they're simple to master.. trans codes will not necessarily turn on the check engine light, mine didn't.. I had to replace the trans in my 94,, few clutch plates broke, shifted really weird in d, sort of fine in od, reverse was good..
