Bizarre odo behavior

Hey all,

Our 2001 Intrigue w/70k miles has developed an interesting problem:

- When the key is turned to 'ACC', the cluster does its Power-on test (including the Oldometer LED), and the radio works fine.

- When I turn the key to 'on', or start the car, the odometer is blank and the radio display is blank, too. The fuses are fine, and the radio still seems to work.

Any ideas?

It sounds like your dimmer switch has gone bad. When you turn it to acc, the dimmer is not activated, but when in "on", the dimmer is active, but won't change anything unless the headlights are on. THis is a common problem, though I'm not sure if these symptoms are common.

any updates on this I have the same problem and everyone I have talked to has no idea what it could be. The dimmer switch doesn't seem to be it because the other lights (speedometer, fuel, temp) work fine when brightening or dimming.
