Hey guys, please take a look at these pics of my kids 98 Ranger. We just piced it up and it has a bit of vibration in the wheel. Should the tie rods be twisted like that??

mine were like that from day one. a vibration is usually tire out of balance unless a part is worn out. as long as there isn't any play in tie rod ends or ball joints ,it's the tire.

Thanks - I was suprised to see them twist like that. As for the ball joint - that's not what I want to do! They are part of the control arms and cost much more $$!!!

actually the ball joints are cheap. they press out of the control arm with a ball joint press tool u can rent free from auto zone and its not that hard to do.

I saw somehwere that the 98-99 ball joints were part of the control arms. I'll have to look for that info again.

my 2000 4x4 looks exactly the same and i just replaced them.

Question, Is the vibration at a particular speed range or all the time, geting worse with speed. Could just be out of balance, either get the front 2 tires balanced or rotate them to the back and see if things change. Also look at the tire for uneven wear, that to will cause a vibration.

About the twist in the tie rod end: What really counts is ... are the tie links free to rotate?
Just grab the link with your hand and attempt to "roll" it. If it's not free to roll, you do need to adjust the end(s) just a bit.

check the wheel bearings
