Ticket!!!

I hate these cocky new state cops!!! I was driving through town and my cell phone rings. Now I had noticed this state cop behind me but as I wasn't doing anything wrong I was ignoring him. When my phone rings I had to take my belt off to get to it. I talk for mabey a minute as I was pulling into my grandmothers house and the cop hits his lights. I'm thinking WTF he better not be stopping me for a seatbelt ticket. Our little conversation goes like this...
Cop: Do you know why I pulled you over?
Me: Probable.
Cop: I pulled you over because you didn't have your seatbelt on.
Me: You were right behind me and saw me take it off. I didn't drive 200 yards without it.
Cop: I have the video camera in the car that shows you not wearing it.
Me: Dude, I was 200 yards from the house. (I got the ticket in the driveway)
Cop: I still have to give you a ticket. License and insurance card please.
The jackass still gave me a ticket!! I know the law is the law but damn, 200 yards of driving at 20 mph as I pull into my grandmothers driveway. Give me a fucking break. The $55.00 isn't a problem, but the situation just pisses me off completely. I did some asking with other cops I know and this guy is fresh from Chicago where he caused "problems" so he was tranfered down here. Gee thanks!!! I have access to a scaner and have neard him pull over 19 people in the past two days.
Ok, I feel better now. I just had to rant for a few.

the cop is a dick, but a law is a law. Cops have the discreation to choose who is breaking and law and who is bending a law. Who they will be nice to and who they will be mean too. it sucks but you broke a law, a a very minor way, but still broke it.

Sucks that for 200' you got a ticket. I had a friend that got a ticket for doing 26 mph in a 25 mph zone. My question is: if you knew he was behind you......

I got tint, so everytime i've been pulled over i have enough time to get the belt on before the cop gets to the window.

Seriously man, if you knew he was behind forget the stupid phone. They'll call you back or you will call them. I never understood the impulsiveness to answer a phone immediately unless you know of a possible emergency such as newborn, someone's in the hospital, etc.
But thsat doesn't mean the cop wasn't a dick...

Guess you shouldnt have taken your seatbelt off. While driving. With a cop behind you. That you were aware of.
Duh.

in your own words, you were 200 yards from stopping.....
what's that, 5 seconds 10?
you couldn't wait?

I thought he was turning off when I first saw him an I didn't look back in my mirror. Honestly didn't think of him giving me a ticket for taking it off right before I stopped. You can bet your ass I won't take it off again.

i had tint till some bastard cop pulled me over for it. i have rather dark tint and it was reflective on the bottom.... his little light guage thing dint even work through the lightest of my tint. so i had to get it removed, what pisses me off is, i see trucks all the time with those back window graphics that you cant see in... how the fuck did i get ticketed and they dont.

i cant believe that works, i was in my girlfriends camaro, and we got pulled over ( i told her to use her blinker... she cut right infront of an unmarked impala cop). and she starts unbuttoning her blouse a little.... and god damnit she got out of it... the only thing that kills me is she's been pulled over more times then carter has pulls > she got one ticket from a female cop... ive been pulled over 2x ticketed 2x.

There is a girl in my city, she's a really good kid. She drives an Eclipse, just like mine except white. I got shit for having my windows tinted, even though I've been through countless stop checks and had no warning for them. I didn't even put the tints on myself, I bought the car with it and was told that they were legal. Now, for that girl in the white Eclipse, every single time I see her in her car, I can not see her face because she has EVERY window tinted. She's had the car for two years.
Sorry for jacking the thread :icon16: The police do give out tickets for dumb reasons. I had a cop give me the finger for some unkown reason before. I saw a cop car behind me and wasn't sure of it, so I looked at my side mirrors and looked at the cop and he gave me the finger and when he pulled up beside me, he kept staring me down. i was driving with heavy traffic, so I couldn't have even done anything illegal if I wanted to... except maybe run that damn cop off the road.

Thank God we only have secondary seatbelt laws (they can't pull you over specifically for not wearing a seatbelt they have to have some other violation first).

Its the opposite here in fl. you can get pulled for not having it on. Though i havent seen it happen yet and i never wear mine.

What really sucks about this is I had just told my brother (Who I had just dropped off) that he better put his seatbelt on as it was "click it or ticket" month. His words were "Oh they ain't gonna stop you just for a seatbelt". Proved his ass wrong didn't I.

Most states only have restrictions on the front windows, not the back or rear glass.

Depends on the state. I think about half the natiosn has primary (they can pull you over for it) and secondary (they have to pull you over for something else first). I know Wisconsin has a secondary.

yeah really. i don't understand why people don't wear them. they save your life and are not some horrible huge nuisance. if it doesnt fit right, well then adjust it. that's what i do since mine is uncomfortable on my neck cuz of the way it fits over my chest. is dying by being ejected thru your windshield really worth it?
and glenn you better start wearing you seatbelt...

ugh..that wasn't my point. and you argue about the people who have freak seatbelt accidents. just think about how few of those there are compared to lives saved.
or maybe you should think about your daughter and what would happen if u were gone. u spun out in your car yesterday, yeah u were fine then but what if you weren't alone on an open road? shit happens, that's my point. so start being smarter about wearing your seatbelt please. :smooch:
