'84 Caprice Fuel Pump Question

I have a leaking fuel pump on my '84 Caprice which has a 305 4-barrel.
The old pump has just the fitting for the 3/8" gas hose and the female thread for the hard line to the carb. The new one has an extra hose fitting on it that looks like 1/4" or 5/16". Can I cap this off safely or did I get the wrong fuel pump? The supplied directions didn't cover any such scenario.
Thanks, Bob

The other line would have been intended to be a vapor return intended to minimize suction line vapor lock. They were used for a few years. You should be able to block/plug it with no problems. Finding a plug could be a chore, however.

Thanks for the advice. I looked up fuel pumps on the Napa site and found out that they gave me the wrong one. The one with the extra line is for taxi and police cars. I didn't feel comfy with finding something to plug it up.
