98 trans am vs. 04 srt-4

basically the first race i actually planned rather than just goin against random cars on the street. My car's a 98 bone stock a4 trans am (getting a flowtech cutout installed tommorrow tho :) ) and my buddy's car is a stock 2004 srt-4 with less than 10k miles on it. We pulled up side by side at the beginning of what was probly a 1.5 miles stretch. made sure he was ready and then did the usual 3 honks. i beat him quickly off the line probly because of the turbo lag, and then my lead just grew exponentiallywith each gear. at 100mph i was ahead by about 2.5 or 3 bus lengths. he took the loss gracefully. i wasn't quite sure how much I would win by but that seemed to meet my expectations. either way i do give props to the neon,, very respectable car.

I can't stand the SRT owners around here.
All rev at me, none race.
They rev when there is NO way to race. Figures.
Nice kill. They can be quick little cars.

Wow that is a long pull. Is he a good driver? Really a surprising length you put on him. None the less good kill.

srt4 didnt know how to launch, so if he mesed up so bad during the launch, i would expect it to loose pretty bad
but 3 bus lengths?..... doesnt even seem like a race

That's about what i'd expect you to win by, though typically autos don't do well from a roll.
I had some SRT-4 owner talking smack about beating my car at the illegal races last week. I think i'm going to shut him up when I show up with DR's this next time out. I love owning people outta the hole.

he would need some serious modifications to be able to hang with you,, and if he's stock then i hope he likes gettin brutally raped

The weird thing is that i've never raced him. Dunno why he thinks he can smoke my car.

The SRT4 would pretty much dominate the Trans Am in ever facett. Surprising kill.
Haha...I'm sure if you've read this far you're already planning your F U post but relax, I'm just kidding. Trans Ams are mean machines. I was looking at them when I was going to buy a car but I already pay 4300 a year for insurance and that would have been about 5000+ a year for insurance.

An automatic car is going to out launch a manually shifted rwd/fwd car 9 times out of 10. Besides everytime i've seen SRT-4's on street tires i've noticed that they struggle for traction.

I would say nice kill but its an obvious win for you.....stock for stock he couldnt beat you just by the way he drives and the fact that you have an auto so there really isnt much room for error or excuses......well good kill anyways but 2.5 - 3 bus lenghs is kinda much from a roll expecially you being auto.....but that just proves how bad he drives his car....

most of those little car owners are shit talkers..(some of them are cool) when you invite them to race they always have excuse ready.. well l have LT1 formula and my friend has 96 accord bone stock (with that famous muffler and good looking rims) he was everyday talking shit to me.. cuz he got manual and l got auto... and l invited him to race many times, he always gave me some excuses.. and finally he drove my car and than he said '' WELL.. MMM.. EHH.. l never thought these cars had this much power'' that was priceless:lol:
by the way good kil man!

There's alot of cool SRT-4 crews here in houston, but i think half of them wrecked their SRT, because they freakin' rare to see nowadays.

i dont agree, my pops C5 vette was getting raped off the line by another stock C5 stick
if you really know how to launch, you should be able to kill a auto off the line..
in this sitiuation i would expect the trans am to kill it off the line auto or not
what i was saying is if the srt-4 would have got a good launch i think it would have been more like a bus and a half, depending on how far the race went

it was from a dig not a roll, but yeah i wasn't really expecting to shock people with this kill,, just wanted to share it since it was pretty much what i'd call my first 100% true street race in this car.
i got the flowtech cutout welded into my I-pipe yesterday and i'm lovin' the sound :) ..the car seems to shift and accelerate smoother too.

All depends on how the auto is set-up. :smokin:

While some of those guys up top have a stick shift, the majority of the guys with the fastest times are running automatics. In an AWD car it's easy to get a great time IMO, as I was cutting 1.8 sec. 60' times on street tires in my former Evo, but in a RWD car like the LS1 F Bodies they aren't as easy to launch.
There are dudes online posting high 11 sec. 1/4 mile times with bolt ons and a sick torque converter w/ slicks. They are practically impossible to mess up on off the line to boot.

oh no, i understand what you mean, its obviously EASIER to get off the line, but my point is, if your really good with your launch and are good with your stick, you should be able to get the jump.. if your that good with it
