ok I went to my "Michaels" today if u all know what that is, its just a craft store and they only carry amt and revell models, but neways I was looking for the datsun 510 but they dont have it in yet so I was looking for anohter model and came across this monster truck. it looked cool to bukild so i bought it for 13 bucks. It the amt/ertl USA-1 monster truck. This is only the second amt model i have bought because the last one a built was very hard and I cut my hand very bda opening up the trunck, so I have a bad memory for them, but this one is very hi-quality, and looks cool too. The box calls for it to be white but I think I'm gonna paint it a testors Dark Blue because I dont like white cars they show too many mistakes and get dirty easy while glueing and such. here is the first couple of pics, I already have two coats of primer on the body and thats about it im waiting for it to dry to put another coat on and then I will start with the blue, the tire are huge but there very neat, hope u enjoy the pics there kinda small and I will get more as I progress. I am taking my time on this model becasue I want it to be really good.

ok well heres another pic, I only put 2 caots of primer on , and I have put the blue on already cause the primer drys in about an hour, there 3 coaast of blue on a light coat, haevy caot, then anohter light, I also have put on the decals the rollcage and the glass my next step is to gloss coat it to gaivce it a shiny look and protect the decals. I still need to paint the trees.

Scorp21- yea I like imports too but, sometimes I just need to change.

riddla- the qulity is great, it one of the best ive seen in am (even though of only built two) but it is a amt/ertl kit so i think that is why it is so high in quility.

p man- yea there pretty crazy, and really redneck I have never gotten inot them but they look like fun to build. more pics are on the way

I have 2 of that model both of them had weak axles and the weight of the truck broke them. I fixed them with a small nail between the axle and the wheel. One is painted purple the other cherry red. Hope you have fun building it and I look forward to seeing pics of it.

sorry about that, alot of the people here are very biased of non american companies, they dont know how to appreciate all forms and shapes. I dont understand how someone can like a turbo supra but not a 32 ford, or a rally car but not a monster truck. NOTE-I AM NOT AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the last pics dont work, what are the headlights like on this kit? chrome plastic? post more, put it againt a regular model.

I like anything that's different. Here locally the theme is either military models (cool but not my thing) or NASCAR (been there done them) with some muscle cars thrown in.

I have learned more and found sources for more cool import kits than I ever saw around here.

mhpspeed, where is this Michael's. I am in Louisville too and am always on the look out for another store. Especially since Hobby House closed.:(

Actually, I live across the bridge but I work out off the other end of Gene Snyder. I very rarely get out towards Westport Rd but I will have to give it a check out. I go to Hobby Town to get magazines and supplies because they seem to be the best stocked.

Have you checked out Scale Reproductions in McMahan Plaza? They cater mostly to military and RC, but they do have a nice variety of kits, including lots of imports in the car section.
