Does anyone know what other motors will bolt up to a 4 speed manual transmission for a 84 s10? Would like to get bigger motor since I can't seem to find a 2.8L manual fuel pump engine with paying an arm and a leg.

DM is absolutely correct.
You'll need an electric fuel pump, along with a carburated intake manifold.
You'll also (probably) have to get your flywheel re-ballanced to 0 degrees.
You might also need to use your oil pan and oil pickup, although I don't know about the oil pan bit on a 2wd.

A good used transmission that fits an SBC is pretty cheap, by comparison.

I do believe this is the easiest and cheapest route for me.
Thanks everyone for the info!!
any ideas on which manual transmission to use for a small block, or convert to an auto?

Has anyone ever put a sbc with manual tranny in a S-10? If so was there any major problems? I have seen alot of auto swaps, just never a manual swap.

Personallyb if I was doing a V8 conversion I would just grab the entire drivetrain from a 5 or 6 speed Comaro, and bolt it all in. Including the transmission.
Then you have 1 fun to drive, bad ass truck!

If it was me I'd buy a newer 350 model, and just switch to a carburated intake manifold. There are so many parts available for them that you'd be suprised.
Avoid any nade between 71 and the mid 80's since they are low compressin slugs compaired to the others.

b4 you get crazy with that, why a stick? from what ive come across youll run into a lot more problems with a stick then an auto, and theres so much power there that you dont need a stick for it to be fast, hell a stick behind a 4.3 feels like a 350... and when you decide what your going with make sure your carb intake will bolt to that set of heads, and if not, if someone makes one for it

The main reason is my truck is already a stick and I don't want to swap out column, or find a shifter to put in floor.

Personally I think that a stick is funner to drive any day of the week.
When your done I'd love to take that monster out for a spin, preferably around a track.

This project is still in the planning stages for now. Got 2 Dodges infront of this one. I wish I was driving my truck tho. I am a Chevy man, just got A neon and a Charger that is in need of attention first. But I will keep you posted as to the S 10 project.
