I'm going to be replacing the fuel filter on my 03 2500 sub w/ 45K miles and read the service manual in prep. Strangely the service manual directs the tech to manually bleed down the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure guage w/ an in-line valve into a shop towel or approved container. In previous late model vehicles I have simply pulled the fuel pump relay and ran the engine until it died and then cracked open the fuel lines. Does anyone have any idea why using the fuel pump relay method would be a problem on this vehicle??

I would bleed it at the rail then go from there. Could cause a check engine light.
