oil filter problems

i just purchased a 99 v6 cougar, how do i remove the oil filter after i twist it off. i cant seem to get it pass the crossbar underneath the car. thanks

Its tight, but the filter will come out between the radiator support and the exhaust manifold.

is there a special way or trick to position the filter? i tried every way and spilled all the oil out the filter tryin?
