Well it is now just under a week away before the start of another hurricane season. I hope alot of people that live along the coastal states prepare their selves for this yrs cuz it is predicted to be another above average season again. In the past 2 yrs in Fl. I have been criss crossed by em and have been lucky not to get a direct hit and after seeing how the towns and cities i lived in, in La. and Ms. were severly damaged (in Gulfport the Grand Casino was sitting in my old backyard)i think im gonna get prepared for a change.
Dont take them lightly if one is predicted to come your way.

We are overdue for a direct hit here in new england, but I'm far enough inland so I won't have to worry about a storm surge, just wind and rain. And I love how people panic shop when they say one ~may~ hit us, then it misses by a long shot and hits something like the middle of the atlantic.

But wait, we have an acutal summer with warmer temperatures, not much rain, and colorful foliage in the fall... Got that there?

I just hope if another big one that's 'suppose' to come towards Houston, the citizens don't act like asshats and take off all at one time. A lot of people felt stupid for leaving. I'm glad my family and I chose to ride it out.

Let's let the people closest to the coast head out first. Along with the elderly and disabled.

^thats the thing though. if another cat 3 or so comes along anywhere people are going to freak even worse after seeing the damage from katrina. its probably going to be like that for another yr or so depending on how many damaging storms like that come along.

Oh well, lets see who rides out those storms this time.

Lived here my whole life.

And I think I've been in their path every year. My family has an impeccable way of going to the center of the storm instead of away from it...

The house I lived in 2 years ago was flooded with 2.5 ft of water after Hurricane Jeanne. All of our stuff was pretty much ruined. We moved...

I still don't really mind them, I've been through so many that they don't even phase me anymore.

Yeah, up here in Iowa tornado season is on it's way, I'm suprised we haven't had any yet though. Last year, June 4th if I remember correctly there was one that went directly over our house, luckily for us it was still in the air, and about 1/8 of a mile it touched down in a field. It lasted for about 20 miles and in the process took out what we called Burr Oak bridge. It sucked becuase it was an old wooden and steel bridge, and it was family tradition for us guys to piss off whenever we crossed it, yeah, we're hicks. Deal with it. That particular tornado was on National Geographic though, and they show the girls house that i used to ride the bus with back in grade school. It's the episode about how this guy has his little thing he sets on the ground that has like 6 cameras in it to view the eye of a tornado. We've got pictures of it, and the damage it did to the bridge and surrounding woodlands, it looked so bare down there afterwards, all the trees were just gone... In one spot there was a tree shoved so far into the ground at about a 15 degree angle that they just cut it off by the ground because they couldn't pull it out. But enough about that.

This kind of shit isn't something to take as a joke, so hurricane or tornado, your crazy fuckers take shelter, just remember to have a 12 pakc with you at all times.

What about that Hurricane that ripped across the South of England back in 1987?

Just remember that just cuz you think a bad storm whether it be a twister or a cane wont hit you doesnt mean one wont. Alot of people along the coast thought just cuz they made it through camille they wouldnt have to worry about katrina. Cockiness like that is what made katrina the deadliest cane in us history. It only takes one really dangerous storm over your roof for you to realize how potent they can be. Living along the east coast and the gulf coast my whole life i have been through a fair share of canes and 2 close twisters though i havent been hit hard i still know just how dangerous they can be.

was it a hurricane or just very strong winds? whatever it was it seems to have been a one-off.
