406-1998 Transmission

Hi,
Name is Obi from Port Harcourt Nigeria, stumbled on AF while searching for a solution for my Auto transmission problem.
I think its a great site having checked out some of the threads and I will introduce it to my friends.
I have a peugeot 406 Auto 1998 model with an AL4 transmission that I got recently used,its done over 130,000 km. With no knowledge of its past history I decided to change the Trans fluid which I changed using Dextron 11 and it has never worked well since. The sports and low gear light have been blinking and it does not change quite well since. Car seems to take off with the gear already in 3rd.
I have been told various things, that I used the wrong oil{that the AL4 does not use Dextron II}, that its the selector switch that needs changing.
I have changed the oil twice to flush out all traces of what ever oil was there before, at times now it works normally and other times it does not especially when I accelerate real fast it then trips back to the flashing lights.

Can anybody tell me what is wrong here!!!!!!!

I cannot help you with the problem, but I'll look around on other websites to see if this has been talked about and let you know.
