What are the symptoms, what will the engine do?
Does it matter if there's a cat but no pipes or muffler when you try to start or run it? Sounds really funny to me but i'm serious. The reason is because I'm having the exhaust done by a garage and they're also doing my inspection. By the time they're done I want to drive it out of there. But I've got to make sure it runs first.
I want to know if it's the new fuel filter I need.

Clogged fuel filter will usually cause stumble at high rpms, as well as hard starting sometimes. For a few bucks why not just replace it. Depends on how much of the exhaust you have off, you need atleast the manifold... and buy some ear plugs and dont drive far.

A fuel filter usually lets the car run normally until you call for power. Then it can't keep up with fuel supply and its starts sputtering, bogging, missing. Like the tank is low and you're running out of fuel. Its OK when you're babying it, but when you press the accelerator it just quits.

what if it starts and then doesn't start again but you hear the engine trying? I'm guessing the filter is clogged and it's almost as if I have no gas right?
