I have the 6.0 2001 2500 hd, I curious what the life expentancy may be for this Engine? Oil is changed every 3-3500 miles, and when something goes bad it's fixed..ie wheel bearings and such. This truck is in great shape , has some of the piston slap sound when first startrd up and has 99,000 on it. I take it to PA pulling two 4 wheelers several times a year but never beat on it. The cost of new trucks is crazy so I would like to hang on to this as long as possible.

The best answer. It depends on how lucky you are and how well you and the previous owner take care of it. Properly maintained, 200,000mi should be no problem and some get way more than that.

My brother was previous owner, I bought it from him at 38,000 miles. 200,000 thousand would be perfect, I would start looking for another around then.
I try and keep on things repair wise. One other question, does the door rubber start to wear or thin out over time and cause the doors to shut just a little louder than when new?

Thinking back on all the trucks I've been through with the farm, it seems like most of the time the doors shut harder when the truck is new. As it gets older, it's a bit easier. I think it is because of the air pressure in the cab. As the seals wear, the pressure buildup from shutting the door is dissipated easier. Kinda like cracking the window. Now the question is, are they associated. Maybe. Possible the seals do deaden the sound some when they are newer, haven't noticed that.

tHANKS FOR THE RESPONCE, YEA I GUESS THE DOOR SHUTS MORE AS A SLAM THAN A QUIET SOUND LIKE WHEN THEY ARE NEWER.
