Brake alternative?

As you all know the Lesabre's one big mistake is having Drum brakes in the rear .
Anyone know a fix for the current brakes other then a swap over to rotors in the rear(too costly).

The car really takes alot of effort to stop when going fast on the highway.
i had new rotors & pads put on in november (05) and had the rotors cut and drums turned last weekend and the cars performs the same when stopping.

What brake pads are you using?

I used Raybestos long life lifetime guarantee on my 93 leSabre. They required greater pressure to stop especially after 20K or so. The more they wore, the harder they got. That was fronts only. The rears never wore out til I traded at 150K.--my wife made me trade it.

On my 98 leSabre I replaced with OEM quality rather than long life lifetime guarantee. That made all the difference in the world. The brakes feel like they grabbed to stop the car. Then I replaced with low dust ceramic by Bendix and they work great but not quite as sticky. Lots less black dust to deal with on the front wheels.

You may have low pressure on the vacuum booster giving lower assist...

If you really want brakes, use high quality drilled & slotted rotors with ceramic pads.

I dont know what pads or rotors are on the car. I left it up to my mechanic and didnt even ask him. Perhaps i shouldnt get a brake job there anymore.

Also, Not a fan of ceramic pads. I like my car to stop the same whether the brakes are warm or cold.

What year is your LeSabre? Are the calipers free moving? I've see caliperes that the piston was frozen to the point that it wouldn't move (this was on a 91). Are you wearing pads out quickly? Just shooting in the dark.

She's a '98 and i think the calipers are ok . my mechanic just checked all of the brakes (front * back) he said that the roters needed to be cut cause they were warping. funny thing is that i didnt sense any stepping when i stopped nor did the car pull when i braked. after i got the car back from the shop i noticed that the brakes are stepping when i stop . as the rotor makes a revalation theres a warp in the rotor? should i change mechanics?
He charged me $90 and the brakes worked better before.

New Pads & Rotors were installed back in november about 6,000 miles ago.
