Hi everybody. I started posting a few days ago and I love this forum. I've been a boat builder mostly since high school, but i've also done many car projects for myself and clients. I'm now studying Engineering Science at ECC and plan on transferring to RIT or Buff. State. I live in Buffalo, New York and I'm 26. I came back from spending 3 1/2 years in the Tampa/ St. Petersburg area about 3 years ago, and have worked in the home inprovement field here mostly, but I'm trying to start a boat repair buisness here this summer.
I've worked in a lot of fiberglass shops and refuse to go back to working for others. I started in a kit car shop, went to a sailboat maker building olympic class lightnings (Allen Boat Co.) Then I went to Tanpa and worked with a custom boat builder most of my stay down south, learning custom tooling, moldmaking, and how to fabricate light, strong, expensive shit. We did everything from electrical utility buckets and booms for high tension line repair trucks and architectural glass to complete custom sport fish boats starting with a bare hull. I built an 1.8l 16valve VW RAbbit, a '62 buic wagon(tube frame, composite body, 455 H.O. motor w/Corvette suspension and transaxle, 6 bucket seats, etc.) a 1.8t VW Scirocco and a first gen. Mazda RX7 among other things while there. Now I,m in Buffalo, poor again, but getting an education.
