Gah. I was gonna try and tint the car myself. My friends and I got the tint on all 4 windows just fine, no bubbles, no dirt (that we could see). It looked perfect. I let it set for the past week or so to make sure it was completely dry before i put the windows down. I put them down and when they come back up the tint is all scraped up from something in the door so I had to rip it off.

Blah.

When a shop tints your windows do they dissassemble the door? Or how do they garantee the same thing wont happen?.

about how much did you pay? I have 4 windows I want front and two rear windows (on spyder) and they quoted me 300. Does that seem high?

That doesn't seem too out of the ballpark. I paid $100 just to get my hatch window done. The guy at the place told me the Eclipse hatch ones are one of the harder ones to do because it's so curvaceous and big. But I wouldn't get discouraged after tinting them just once, I fucked up my first couple times but now I can do a damn near flawless job on any car. You don't have to take the window out, but it makes it alot easier to get ALL the bubbles out (especially the fuckers that form at the bottom after a couple minutes) and then I put it under a heat lamp so it dries quicker.

When I don't pull out the window, I pull off at least the molding on the inside where the window rolls up and down to make sure you get the tint all the way on the window and not caught on something inside. That's probably what happened to you and why it ripped off.

yeah I just went and tucked it 1/4 inch below the trim like the box said.

It was fine till somethin rubbed against the bottom edge. I also don't know how it would seat against the roof. I had the top down when I did it.

I guess I could try to remove the window. Like I said we had no problems getting the bubbles out (the ones at the bottom sucked) but after we rolled it down that was the problems.

I only have my front windows and the rear windows on the spyder. I'm not doing the back window at all. I'd just like the sides tinted.

hell yea 300 is too much, around $150, just deal with them men, the part is cheap, but the labor is alot. So you can deal with that, by the way dont forget tell them give you legal sticker ( my 5% but on sticker say 35%:evillol: ) most cop dint even check sticker, they say it dark, it dark.

I tried to do it like the directions on the box one time and went through like 4 rolls of tint. After awhile you just sort of have your own method. Did you roll the window down soon after you tinted it? I put my car out in the sun and let it sit and don't roll the windows down for a day or two until all the glue dries.

It was on 3-4 days but eventually I had to drive my car and it was raining so I had to put the top up. When you do that the windows go down so I put them down manually and they went down fine it seemed. But when I brought them back up corners were peeled and scratched (i guess thats caus eI couldn't clean down far in the window and they got caught on something. In turn it scraped up the rest of the glass.

So the glass is all scraped up? That's something more than just something catching on the tint. I'd pull off the panel and check that shit out.

I can do all 4 side windows on a hartop in about an hour, as long as it's not dusty. You wouln't be able to roll down your window to hear all the spooling and bov's though. :)

Haha, I think the only people on right now are you, me, and thor. It's like a chatroom where you have to search to find where the conversation has gone.

maybe you can set up a tinting booth garrett and do my windows and thors for free and then a bunch of hondas will come and charge them $50 each window:lol:

gthompson97
05-23-2006, 12:17 AM
Haha I know, I've got like 25 posts of just nothing but whoring, oh well.

I don't think you could get a LED muffler tip without getting some Mickey Thompson drags, you'd just burn regular tires right up.

anyone know whats legal in Mn? isnt it like 35% on the side windows and anything behind the driver is fair game to be as dark as you want?

gthompson97
05-23-2006, 12:22 AM
Both of you are whores. I've been on here over a year longer than you PR and a year and a half longer than you Thor and you both have more than I do

the sad thing is I had under 100 posts untill july 05 when I got my talon

gthompson97

I think that's what the limit is in MN. In ND, it's 50% on the front and as dark as you want behind the driver. But me being the badass that I am, have 20% on the front and 5% on the back. I used to have 5% on the front too but I had to roll down my windows to see when I turned and stuff at night and it was winter and got cold so I took it off.

blk_srt

I just want to dark enough to blend in well with the black top

Thor06
05-23-2006, 12:34 AM
Yep, you have it right pr, 35% on the front windows, anything goes behind that.

We all whored up today, I think I was at 2185 or something today at lunch. I got my account here on 2/2 last year, but my first post wasnt until 6/2 I think. I remember when I was like 500 up on pr_ricer, he just knows more shit than me and I slowly watched him pass me. Garrett, you are getting close too, I had both you guys out whored by quite a bit at one point.

nova1313

yeah my two rear windows actually have some scrapes on them i guess from going down and up. My fronts were okay, they just the bottoms got caught on something and crinkled. I guess I'll go and try to take out the glass. I wonder how hard it is. I know there are bolts through the bottom of the front.
