Shifting Probs

Hi!, over the past few weeks I was on the highway, about 55-60 MPH, and when i take my foot off the gas if about 50 the Cougar will shift in to Third Gear when I hit the gas it will shift to Fourth Gear. I just got a transmission flush today, and they people at Jiffy Lube said that even with it being flushed the Transmission Fluid is still very dark. ( Even showed us ) And they recommend that I have it done again.. If I spend a nother 100+$ Will this fix the transmission from shifting to Third Gear?

I got the transmission flushed and there is a BIG different in the way the cougar shifts.. The transmission has never been flushed in over 100,000 miles.. So I don't know.. I hope there is no damage to the transmission.. This is a 1989 Cougar LS 4 SPEEP Auto. Has 192,576 miles as of today.

jiffy lube should have flushed it till it came clean. you shouldnt pay for it again.

the way the cougar transmission is designed is retarted... first of all if you miss the scheduled transmission flushing you are screwed... the fact that you had flushed it when it had not been flushed at the normal time could cause a problem. the gunk that the flush was supposed to get rid of will now be clogging your filter which on normal transmissions you could drop the pan and and change it but in a cougar you have to take the whole damn thing apart to get to it. what you want to do is keep changing that fluid until like every 2 weeks or so until it starts to look pink and then flush it again. i know this because my car is stuck in second gear and this is what i have to do too.
