89 ford econoline dies

my 89 ford is throwing a egr valve code but not sure if thats the problem have replaces modual on distripator, van starts runs great goes about 50 feet and dies out but will start right back up,like someone has turned key directly off after its running a min,can anyone help?

Will it keep running if you hold the gas pedal down a little? Is it loosing spark or fuel pressure? I can walk you through the test steps but I will need more information like engine size.
