REVVING problem

my 1988 honda civic dx, 5-sp manual trans. has been revving like crazy when i idle. at stop lights, it sounds like its trying to go 70mph.
thought for a while that it was the throttle position sensor but that seems to be testing fine.
ANY SUGGESTIONS???

you need to tell more, what do you mean by crazy reving? up and down the rpms or just stay at a high rpm, need more info.:smokin:

My friend was having the same problem try checking the choke position that is what his problem was.

His car is an 88 accord but it might be the same just check it anyways.

Possibly a clogged IAC (Idle Air Control) valve, if it has one...
