Hey everyone, my names mike, i recieved a 1996 cutlass supreme SL, for a present a few months back, and just now im starting to have some problems.

One, my coolant keeps draining....and im not sure from where, I can fill it up, and then 10 minutes later the thing is bone dry...

Two, my tranny is starting to shift a little late, and getting a little jumpy on shifts, i know i most likely need to replace the filter/fluid, and such but some input would be nice.

Three, where can i find good OEM replacement parts for my cutlass? I need a new driver side, side view mirror (someone knocked mine clean off my car in the middle of the night), and just OEM parts in general, and if you know of any performance parts for the cutlass share em :)

Also, is there any "how-to" guides for working on these cars on this forum, or the net in general...im new to GM's, and things seem to be a little bit different than my old Honda

Thanks alot and sorry for such a long post lol

Mike

While starting your car and let it idle for 10 minutes, do you see any coolant dripping under the vehicle?

Do you have a huge white smoke coming out of the tail pipe?

Check your transmission fluid and coolant in the radiator, do you see any milky color in it?

Go to AutoZone.com. they have on line repair service, basic stuff.

Losing that much coolant is very bad, is your oil chocolate colored? You could hook up a pressure tester at the radiator and pump it up to 15 PSI and look for leaks, gotta be obvious losing that much.

This post might help with the coolant leaking problem.

1. If your coolant is leaking into your oil then it's your head gasket. Your oil will have a milky colour, and you will have loss of power, and a very rough idle.

2. Check your tranny fluid. If it's ok, then check if the fluid is dark in colour. It sounds like you need a transmission flush ($99.00 at most garages). ake sure they also change the filter and the gasket. Some garages only flush the fluid.

3. I had the same thing with my mirror. Went to the scrap yard and got one almost new for $40.00

4. Get a Haynes manual for your car at Canadian Tire (If you're in Canada) or auto zone in the US. They are about $20.00
