I have a 2000 Rodeo with the 2.2 4L engine , RWD of course. The CEL popped , so I headed to the zone to scan it and it threw out this: P0342 Camshaft position (CMP) sensor A, bank 1 – low input Wiring short to ground, CMP sensor, ECM. My question is do I need a new CMP sensor? and if so , where is it located on the engine. I am of course going to call the local dealer ( or closest relative - Honda) but I wanted to know if this is common and/or a chance to get ripped a new one as the CMP itself is $150+ . Thanks for any help.

Yes the CPS seems to be a common failure item on the 1998-2003 2.2L. I'd call around for pricing.
