my 2002 325i has very poor am radio recepton. antenna amp replaced and still sounds like crap..sound keeps breaking up on all stations. am radio has been around since the days of Marconi. can't bmw get it right? this is basic technology thats been around for a long time. i'm very disapointed. could bmw be selling cars with known radio problems? anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve is issue?

Have you tried connecting a standard antenna to see if it cures the reception?
Just thinking that it might not be the antenna that is at fault!
What about the lead running to the front of the car?
What about the connection at the radio itself?
What about a fault with the radio?
Have you had these checked?

Hey there, I have a 2000 3 series, I bought it brand new, I have had nothing but problems with my radio/cd player... Radio is fuzzy, cd player only plays the cd's it want to and when it does play a cd it cuts in and out... Have taken it back to BMW and they think there is nothing wrong with it.
My solution is to replace the whole thing with a new deck and stacker. Preferebly with a well known brand that is of good quality

Yea, have tried the AM bands on my radio and it seems to work fine!
I have a Kenwood tuner/tape head unit with CD stacker in the boot.
Maybe it is the factory units that are causing the problems.

I am supposed to be taking my car to bmw tomorrow for them to have yet another look at the radio as well as replacing my cigarete lighter coil (was shorted out by a bobby pin). Instead I have bought a new sony system for my car which i pick up on friday, will put it in over the weekend.. I couldnt be bothered stuffing around with fixing the original one, and being female I know that bmw will just stuff me around evenmore.... its funny how you guys think that us females know nothing when it comes to cars
