Maxing out my turbo....question

Okay, so as soon as I get around to ordering a fuel pressure regulator so I can install my 650cc injectors, I plan on maxing out my T28 turbo. The turbo has a bigger compressor wheel and has "50 trim" dimentions. I am estimating that the turbo could put out close to 350hp at the crank maybe? Anyway my question is... with my upgrades am I ok to go ahead and max the turbo out once I get my parts on or am I missing some things? Thanks.

if ou dont have a mls head gasket and or arp head studs your looking at a max of 20 psi before you blow it headgasket that is

You'll need tuning/logging stuff, some pretty good race gas, and cams/SMIM will help a lot. I think that turbo is near the evo III 16g, but not quite. I think like 375 whp is about it. Without cams/SMIM I wouldnt expect to make more than like 340 on race gas, high boost pressure, and a pretty good tune.

IIRC a t28 isnt much bigger than a big 16g so your looking at making around 340hp with all the mods

sbr claims "it has big 16g power" so thats what I was going off of. I thought it was smaller but couldnt back it up on short notice.

it's just a T25 with a larger compressor wheel. Spools just a bit past the T25, it's a good turbo.

That turbo should be very easy to max out on race gas. On pump, it's a little trickier.
I ran my 11.3 at 126 passes on a stock head gasket. MLS is nice, but not necessary. On a 2g especially, studs should be done for good measure, but if you don't knock you will likely get by on the stock bolts. This is a small turbo still...
On a small turbo, cams and SMIM don't increase the max HP any. They simply allow you to max out the turbo's flow at lower boost. Which is good for pump gas power, but doesn't really matter much on race gas. With larger turbos, cams and SMIM may be the only way to max them out at reasonable boost levels.
This turbo probably is close to 16g power levels. Basically a little bigger than a 14b. For comparison, a T25 flows in the low to mid 20s, a 14b maxes out at 30 lbs, small/big 16gs around 35-38 lbs, and EVO16g at ~42-43 lbs. I would expect this to end up in the low 30s, but that's pure speculation as I have no personal experience with one. If it is still using the T25 hotside your biggest problem will be turbine housing pressure and WG blowing open.

I know someone who might be selling smim's  . Someone offered me $400 to build him so it looks like it's on to round 2, me vs steel.

What are you doing with the one that you already made?

Okay, as for logging software... I have a palm pilot with palmenstien installed on it and I have my afc for tuning. I do have arp head studs installed so I am not to worried about that. I am suprised to hear the T28 can reach over 30psi. Now that I know this I probably wouldn't take it past 25-28. It all depends on when I get everything installed and how it runs. I think I can get the basic tuning done so it is drivable but, I will probably need some help with the fine tuning. I would be happy to see 280whp from this turbo. Oh and I will be running this baby on pump gas most the time. It is going to be a light daily driver along with a weekend warrior so, pump gas will be used(93 octane).

It is pretty amazing how many people think PSI means airflow. Its really hard to talk to anyone besides like 4 people in my town about cars because none of them have any fuckin clue what they are talking about. On of my good friends is a Honda-turned-Toyota guy. Hes a pretty good guy and knows some of what hes talking about, but man, he and basically everyone else I know here dont realize that a t25 and a t67 are going to flow different amounts of air at a given pressure.

I don't think half the kids in my town know what a turbo does. One kid bought a "NOS" kit for his car but didn't hook it up to the motor, just the purge kit. He just drove around spraying it out all over. And then he just put in CO2 when he wasted all the "NOS" (or so he called it.) What a damn moron. And yes, he does drive a honduh.

The funny part is, before I looked at his car and figured out that it wasn't hooked up I had asked him how much of a difference it made (cause I've never been in a car with nitrous so I just wanted to know if it was AS cool as everyone says) and he goes "oh yeah, I broke the tires loose in 5th gear"
HAHAHAHA, that's when I looked at the motor and figured out it wasn't even hooked up. And he wanted to race me before I found out. What a fuckin loozer.

lol I know a guy with a 96ish civic coupe with a d16y5(sohc 1.6L vtec) and its boosted. He was running a super 60 and made "290whp" then I guess he blew the turbo and he dicided he wanted to make an extra 10hp to get to an even 300 so instead of getting like a 50 trim or something the dumbass gets a 60-1 and expects it to spool at 3k:lol:

HAHA on a 1.6?? I might spool at 30k on a 1.6. That's like putting a big 16g on a Geo.

 Man that is fucking great. Like the kid in my town with is 450 hp big 16g powered 420a Eclipse that squeels all the way through 4th gear, is running 8 lbs of boost, and didnt get cams because they dont do anything anyway. Man, I cant wait to see the look on his face when I fuck that cars ass so hard it rips open and it has to have stitches. Or the other kid that has his Civic turbo'd (14b) and nitrous and still only ran a 15.1! And theres this other kid that tried to tell me most people take the turbos off of Evo's to make them naturally aspirated. Man, b-town needs some atleast halfway knowledgable people. Gotta love gthompsons friend, purging all his nitrous away. Man, I love people sometimes.

Yeah, that is pretty funny. D series engines are fucking worthless. Thats what that Civic around here is running. He originally bought a pretty big garret turbo (now on my friends Neon), they traded straight up rebuilt 14b + help installing for the T3/T4 that spools at like 4000 rpms (I think its a 60-1). Then theres the Mustang kid and the Grand Am GTP kid. Woo hoo, a stock mustang. He doesnt hardly even know how to change his spark plugs. Then GTP kid literally knows nothing about cars, mommy and daddy bought him a nasty ass supercharged Grand Am and he thinks hes the shit. Two more cars that I cant wait to stick the DSM horse cock into .

speaking of gtps lol there is a guy in Austin that has a gtp thats cammed and has headers and a full exhaust and its chipped and ported everything and a smaller blower pulley and he ran slower than he did stock not even spinning

They make supercharged Grand Am's? I thought only the Prix's were supercharged. I think you mixed them up. The Grand Am had the GT and the Grand Prix had the GTP. The GTP was a pretty quick car though.

Sorry I misread and didn't think. On top of that it has been a long week haha. Yes, I do understand the concept. Right now at about 16psi I am close to 30 pounds. I think last time I logged it was something like 29.8 or something for max airflow.
