stripped oil pan?

89 s-10 blazer 160000 miles. I noticed oil leaking from the drain plug found out it was loose, it would not tighten up. So I used the next size up still too loose and it seems like the threads are gone. Is there any other option to avoid replacing the whole thing? If not how difficult of a job will this be and will I need any special tools. Thank you for viewing this thread.

Try tapping it for the next size that will fit. If it doesn't work you'll pretty much have to figure out how to pull the oil pan (usually takes lifting the motor) and get it fixxed.

thank you! I think I got it fixed. Probably be the last time the oil ever gets changed on that blazer! LOL

Idk but when this happened on my 91 they put the next bigger size plug in with lots and lots and lots of loc tite and that solved that issue but the rear main still leekd at the time.

Take your stripped/loose plug/bolt into Napa. They'll sell you the next larger size Self-tapping plug, $4.00 tops.

My rear main seal leaks as well. I only put about 4000 miles a year on this blazer so a quick cheap fix works well.
