I already searched but I couldn't find what I was looking for.

It's about time for me to buy some new tires. Originally I wanted to go ahead and get a wheel/tire combo. But I've decided to wait on the wheels for a while. So in the meantime I wan't to put a high performance tire on the stock 16's. I need to know what size to go with. I was thinking maybe something a little wider than stock. I just want it to perform good. The tires I was thinkin about were BFG KDW 2, or yokohama parada spec 2, or similar.

So what size should I do?

Well what size are the stockers? I'm guessing they're about 205/50/16 or something close to that. If you want a wider tire, try go with some 215's or even 225's.

Stock is 205/55R16. So you think I could get away with 225's? What do you recommend? Also what about profile? I'm a dummy when it comes to tires.

The tire width is the first number on the tire before the " / " The second number is the profile, or how big the sidewall is. For example, a very low profile tire with a 35 profile will have a very small sidewall (a little bigger than 1") and your 55 profile will have a bigger sidewall. The bigger the number the larger the sidewall. The last number is the size of the wheel, sometimes they come with different letters like R, ZR, etc. R means they are rated to ~100mph for a constant hour ( or something like that) and the ZR means that they are rated to ~140mph for an hour without blowing. Hope I helped.

EDIT: For your stockers being 205, you won't notice a whole lot of having a wider wheel going with the 215's as much as the 225's, but if you can get the 225's, I don't see why not. You might want to call a local tires shop and ask them if they will fit on the stockers. Anyone know what the width of the stockers are?
