FWIW - Napa Gold 1334 oil filter's

for our Rodeo's seem to be the best quality of all the filters I've seen around.

Cleaning out cupboards in my garage, I have a habit of buying 2 of all little things, and have a lot of extra Isuzu oil filters sitting around, had been using OEM for a while, but there were a few times I tried others.

Anyhow, out of the one's I have sitting around = Motorcraft, Bosch, STP, ACDelco, Puralator Premium plus, it looks like the Napa Gold comes off as the better quality of the bunch, with Motorcraft and Puralator built pretty good as well.

I have a Motorcraft filter on the truck now, and I do like it - no ticking; and will keep the Puralator and the Gold. But have no use for the STP and ACDelco, made the engine tick horribly.

Which is more cost effective b/w OEM and the Gold?

Yep. I used the carquest premium version, which is the same WIX filter. The OD of the can is slightly larger and longer that other brands + the can is very sturdy and crush resistant. Nice filter if you extend your drain intervals. I wouldn't waste such a nice oil filter for 3-4K drain intervals.

I have used Purolators on my 3.2L with good performance. I might switch to NAPAs version. Most guys on the Jeep board I frequent use a Wix filter, too. I had been using Motorcraft. I can easily deform the outer canister of the Motorcraft, but it's internals seem more than adequate.

I wouldn't waste such a nice oil filter for 3-4K drain intervals.

Actually, what I'm gonna do, is just change the filter every other oil change; the oil at 3k is still a real light brown color, in which case, I'll probably extend the oil out to 4-5k intervals and the filter to 8-10k intervals.

With all of those real short oil/filter changes there for a while, must've done some good, as the oil is still REAL clean at 3k miles. Unlike my Toyota's oil that turns black by 2k miles.

OEM oil filter is about $9; Napa Gold is $8 - so not much difference there.

FYI. The 1344 is the oversized version of the 1334. Been using it for the last 3 oil changes. Works well.

Contrary to Ramblin experience last 5-6 years I use exclusively supertech ST2808 and AC1127, both older style with round spring pressure relief valve and engine no tick at all. I don't like Purolator, I rounded couple of them during removal, metal too flimsy.
