hey guys sorry im kinda out of my zone with this one but most of the talons in the talon section are turbos and dont really know to much about SAFC II. I was just wondering if this would be a good product to put in my talon n/t, or am i better off sendind my ecu to someone like jet performance?

The Apexi Super AFC II is great...don't send your PCM to Jet, they don't do anything but take your money!!!
Just curious, why are you posting in the neon forum?

to be honest bud, your not going to see big gains either way.

IMO, I wouldnt ever get something that I cant retune. Things like a JET chip and whatnot cant be adjusted. All you are buying is a set of different maps which may or may not be optimal for your application or mods. I know there are plenty of adjustable piggy backs, but that is a reason why I DO like the SAFCII. I can tune my car on the fly and future mods dont matter because I can get the best tune with what I have at any moment.

Jets part number is 68004 i usually sell them for about 255 canadian , they arent a *chip* but a module since there is no removable chip in the computer they are an add on , and they do increase performance.

My friend has the same module in his Escort and it shaved 1.25 secs of his 0-60 times , dont know where you got your info from Das but having read this board for the last couple days straight looking for other information. Id say maybe you should go check your battery again since its always your solution to everything and dont talk about things you dont know about. Unless you have bought one yourself and installed it ?

actually i dunno, i cant say ive dealt with jet before but everyone and i mean everyone except for you has told me that sending my ecu to jet is a waste of time and money
Wollf

you dont need to send your ecu away , you can buy a * chip * for your car , it doesnt plug in like the newer vehicles , but you do hard wire it in , its about a 30 min job if you go slowly and it does improve response time in your throttle

well i really dont think that jet makes an application for my vehicle

how did you verify the 1.25 seconds off the 0-60 times. that seems like a SIGNIFICANT improvement, i mean BIG TIME SIGNIFICANT!!! i am really blown away at that one. that means that it picked up more than 1.5 seconds in the 1/4 if not even 2.0 seconds. a turbo/supercharger on low boost will barely do that...and they add 100hp. i dont see how its physically possiable to gain that much power on a N/A vehicle without extensive modification or nitrous

Maybe a $30 mod can help that much and we've been wasting our time and money on boost!!!

i know, right!!! why spend $2000 on a turbo setup...or heck, i just blew $2000 on my standalone AEM EMS computer, when i could have purchased this $150 computer chip, that is obviously better. i mean comeon, what good does it do you to have full and complete control of your engine when JET has their chips made in china.
i am a jet dealer, and let me tell you somthing. in teh past 4 years i have sold more than a dozen of their products (not many at all...and here is why), and EVERY SINGLE ONE of them came back!!! i would not sell JET to anyone, even if you begged me. i would tell you no, and force you to buy it from one of my other sales guys...but what do i know...its not like i have built 1000+hp corvettes and porshe's, or the several le mans race cars i have been apart of, or the touring car team i work with, or the hundreds of street cars i have worked on (including several magazine cars), etc

LOL you all are so funny i said my piece and i stand behind my word. Unlike the rest of you i dont need to lie. And i dont need to flame, this is a help board for people who want it. I offer help , take it or leave it. Dont like it dont reply.
PS: not a $30 dollor mod , 255 usually canadian , as i said. and when your running a 16-18 second run from 0-60 1.25 sec shave average is ok , not great.

a second in the 1/4 is ALWAYS great!!!!!! ALWAYS!!! and 1.25 secods 0-60 is a lot closer to 2 seconds in the 1/4. i find is VERY hard to believe, as a car builder and tuner, to pick up that speed with just a plug in module. so again i ask how did you verify.
my standalone engine management system didnt give me 1.25 seconds in the 1/4...how can it give a low compression, low powered, N/A car that in the 0-60. i call BS until someone provides a bit more proof than we counted. i need 1/4 mile times and/or dyno printouts.
i caution the original poster to be weary of anything that promises big power...unless it significantly changes the egine VE. the laws of physics come into play, and you CANNOT gain that much power without altering the specs inside the motor. its impossiable without altering compression ratio's, camshaft profiles, head design, motor displacement, etc

well i can see this is turning into a rather pointless argument, wollf i dont think you should post until u have some actually evidence, but i guess what im trying to ask here is should i bother buying the safc 2 if i dont have access to a dyno and will have to tune my self?

ok what im saying about this is that everyone is asking wollf where his proof is because there has been so many people with complaints about jet. we are not just saying it to have a debate. time and time again people have been ripped of by jet. there is an article floating around one of these dodge forums about how jet is just sticking thier sticker on it and sending it back to you without doing anything. my opinion (from a long time first gen owner) dont go with any of these companies. go with something you can tune yourself so you know it acctully getting done.
second the safc is a great mod, dynoed or not. the more supporting mods the better gains you will see. you can tune these yourself and get reasonable gains, but it wont come near as much power as you can get out of it with a dyno or wide band. safc is the way to go unless you megasquiet, greddy emange, or some other standalone.

Ok gentlemen,
I can add some personal experience here...I have a friend who used Jet with their car. And I drove it at the track MYSELF and noticed very little,if no difference. I don't know wether it's compatible with a Neon (I don't pretend to know it all). But keep in mind-if they were that great on a Neon or any other car we would all know about it. People wont spend thousands on turbos, nitrious, etc if they could do better for WAY less money. And IMO I'd rather have something that I can tweek myself to get it exactly the way I want it. But then again that's just my opinion. And if there is proof that it can save me that much time on the track i'd love to see it.

sounds good, especially after teh thousands i have invested into my own car. heck, just blew $2000 on my standalone, $1000 on my big turbo, $500 on my fuel system...when i could have gone cheap.
there is a reason to spend money. its done so that i can run 11's on street tires, get 30+miles per gallon, and not have to worry about blowing crap up
