im new on here and i drive a 85 camaro z28 with 305ci 4bbl, 5spd manual......it has only a few performance(if they are classified as that), hedman hedders, flowmaster exhaust, accel distributor and wires, k&n filter, and some other little stuff like that.................a guy i know wants to sell me a motor out of an 84 vette (L-82) and he says it dynos at about 400hp......i was wonderin if this would be a good idea to switch over to and what i would have to change on the rest of the car(like fuel pump ie.)........thanx

What did he do to the engine to get 400hp out of it, that sounds kinda high. Make sure he has reciepts and proof that it has 400.

I know him pretty well........the motor he had in a 82 s-10 and he totalled the truck off so he told me all about it( new heads, intake, cam, carb, and some other stuff), but if i get receipts and whatnot and make sure its in good running order, do you think it would be a good idea otherwise? (what else would i need to change?)

I dunno, hopefully the engine mounts will line up nicely, then you just have to worry about the rest of the drivetrain and maybe some of the accessories. First that they will bolt up properly, and second that they will take the abuse of the higher HP. The accessories are usually more of location issues. I do not have much experience in swapping stuff like that so I do not know many of the specifics, but I do know that a lot of people who do it around here spend a lot of money and time doing it and many give up. However, the ones who follow through rarely complain when they get it all up and running
