i have a 95 talon tsi and the other day i was crusin on the highway about 70mph and i shifted into neutral, then i went to put it back into gear and it would not go, i coasted into the shoulder and still couldnt get it into gear. It makes this squeeling noise when i push down the clutch pedal and it vibrates. I tried putting the car into gear with the car not running and i got it into 1st and started the car and the car pulled forwards like the clutch was still in gear even though i had the clutch pedal to the floor. i put it back into neutral and my car rolled back and made a clunk noise and the clutch felt fine so i put it back into 1st and was able to pull forward a little bit but then it heard a grinding noise like the clutch was half engaged. I dont know what is wrong and i dont feel like pulling the trans. I got it towed home and checked the slave cylinder and it still moves fine. I called around and asked people and ive heard anywhere from its the throw out bearing, to the clutch disc came apart ( which i dont know because it has a fairly new act 2100) to it may have crankwalk, so if anyone thinks they know whats goin on with it please let me know thanks

Well i can say from experience that it really could be the act clutch. I'm assuming you have the street disc. I had mine break a while ago. Here's a link with some details. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=529428&highlight=why+act+sucks
It was very similar to your problems.

I had the same problem its your clutch... I guess thats a bit of a relief for u since its not your tranny. BUt yea act 2100 did that to me. Then I bought 2600. And Since then I've switched off of act and now am running exedy. My only problem with exedy is its sooo violent it grabs my clutch the second I let off of the pedal even in the least. Great for racing not so great for daily driving (fortunately most of the time I combine the two ;))

I had the same exact problems with my clutch.
btw steviek, the act clutches both have the same disc unless you go to the six puck disc. So the 2600 # wouldn't make any differnce it might have made it more likely beacuase the increased pressure on launching.

would it be safe for me just to replace the disc?

Check everything else. If it all still looks ok, I'd just get a new disk. Disks arent all that expensive, but the rest looks bad I would for sure get new stuff.

I got a new act disc it was like $150 or something. At the time i didn't have the money to do a whole new clutch.

I pulled the trans yesterday and sure enough the spring broke out of the disc
