removing cig lighter housing.....

i want to replace my cig lighter , but cant get the housing out of the console...can someone tell me how to get it out?....its a 93 corsica w/ auto tranny....hope one of u corsica guys or gals can help...

I am going to replace the one in our 91 in the next day or two so my son can use it for some new electronic gadget he has. I have taken the old one out before, but not sure if the 91 is the same as yours. On mine you have to take a small screwdiver and remove a clip that looks like a u from behind the shift handle. Once it is out the shifter knob slips off and you take the screwdriver and pry the plate off the console. be careful not to force it too much, and do thsi on all 4 sides. It pops out, no screws. Remove the power clip and then to take off the lighter assy you will need to remove the nut at the bottom of the lighter. the lighter assy should then fall off, in pcs. Hopefully this helps. again I am not sure if yours is the same.
