Brake question

i pulled off my front drums to replace the front shoes and i noticed that the star adjuster didnt look right. (the adjuster faces towards the rear...right?). so i flipped it around and ran the cable to it, obviously, the other way. but now my brakes pull to the left quite a bit. could that be from the adjuster? oh, and the old shoes had plenty of pad, so i left them. Im just wondering what could have caused the pulling. any answers would be great. thx.

Look for a diagram in a repair manual. Don't guess how the parts should be installed.
Brakes pulling can be caused by sticking wheel cylinders, poor adjustment, etc. Old deteriorated flex lines can restrict the flow of brake fluid and cause binding. Flex lines deteriorate internally.
Get a detailed repair manual and make sure everything is installed and adjusted properly. Your local public library may have a manual you can make copies from. Ask at the reference desk. Are the shoes on the left front wheel and the right front wheel wearing evenly?

ok i looked up the diagram in a shop manual...it looks like i was correct. The brakes arent pulling very much any more, could it just be that because the adjusters were backwards, that the brakes needed time to realign with the drum? and that the pulling was due to uneven distances between the shoes and the drum?
