Alright! I know it's not much, but I have scribed the gas door. You'll see this thing in primer soon I pormise!! I know I've said that a couple times now, but I think I've pretty much got the bases covered now, so it shouldn't be much longer. One more round of sanding and I can spray the primer. Here's a pic of the gas door.

They wouldn't necissarily be all chrome like that though. Keep in mind, whatever wheels I end up using will most likely end up being painted a different color. But yeah, it's a hard choice. But I don't have to make that particulare choice for a while still.

Might not look like much progress, but believe me, it is. Finally have the side skirts on and blended and smoothed, which means..... this thing is FINALLY almost ready for primer (so long as nothing ELSE goes wrong). And hey! What's this?!?!? ANOTHER set of wheels??? What do you guys think of the GT-Cs? I'm just trying out all the possibilities for wheels right now. I wont decide on the final wheels until there's color on the car and everything. Anyway, here's the pics.

Finally someone else who suffers from the same sickness as me! You can't decide on wheels for a project either! I personally think the Gt-vs or the advans will look good, I'm not a fan of the gt-c's in real life, so i'm not much of a fan of em in scale either. But its your kit so build it how you want it. Looks great so far though, I look forward to seeing some paint.

Just an IMO, but on this kind of car I'd rather see purposeful wheels, like you might see at a track day, rather than chrome bling. Even keep those wheels, but strip the chrome and paint them gunmetal or aluminum. Just my two cents.

This looks awesome, btw. :D

I never planed on keeping the chrome. Volks are definitely purposeful track wheels. But depending on what color the body ends up being that will determine the color of the wheels. Weather they're black, gunmetal, gold, bronze, silver, etc. SO the chrome is definitely not final. They might have a chrome lip. but they wont be all chrome. Thanks for the input!

What's up with that Pacer in the background of one of the pictures? :)

Aahhhh... the good ol Pacer. Yeah, I have WAAAAY too many projects on the go so some get neglected for long periods of time. I shaved the door handel and badges n stuff. I planed on putting a V8 in it and kinda hot rodding or Pro Touring it out. Lowered with some larger diameter hot rod styled wheels. Unfortunately I have been a MAJOR slacker on everything model involve lately. Plus my dad started putting up some shelves around my work are, I had to pack everything up so it didn't end up damaged, and he's never finished putting the shelve up yet. I WAS hoping to get this S2000 in primer before it got too cold but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. I've just been too busy this past summer and I can't really paint in the winter. Plus It doesn't look like things are getting less busy. And unfortunately there's just some things that are more important than building models. I wish I could turn out lots of beautiful models like some of you guys do. Hopefully someday soon I'll be able to finish this thing though.

I think the GT-C's look great,it would look really good if it was orange, and the wheels had a gold center, thats just what i think anyway.and if u like the GT-V's i reckon put them on,it wont take away from the car too much...it IS widebody.but this is looking awsum

03-15-2008, 01:35 AM
Hey guys, I need some help figuring something out here. I want to cut the lip of the TE37 off, and cut the back section of the rim off, swap that back section over to the front and reatatch the lip so that I preserve the lip detail, and deepen the rear wheels for this thing. My original idea was to atatch
the wheel to my dremel so that I could spin the wheel on the dremel while I cut the wheel with an exacto knife. BUT I couldn't find a decent way to atatch the wheel to my dremel. So, I could use some suggestions. I know someone out there has to have done this before. But I didn't find anything when I attempted to search for it.

03-17-2008, 07:04 PM
If your lip isn't too wide, you could very well try a piece of styrene wrapped and glued around, it would make the rim a tad bigger and as wide as you want. It's easy-peasy, and has got quite good results if you don't do it too wide.

stryfe101
03-17-2008, 10:14 PM
hey energon, do you have any extra sets of rims with separate lips on them? thats the easiest way to deepen that lip, I've got several sets, and have tried a few different lips and most look close enough to pass for the real deal, if you don't have any extras pm me and I'll look around my resin ones...

Hello,

I can chime in here 'cause it is an issue I've also been thinking about for a while.

http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/1993/14741328db2.jpg

I use the 2 mm rod that is usually the rear axle of an older Fujimi kit, and cut it in half.

http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/8161/24960160gz8.jpg

The size collet that works is 1/16".

http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/6858/15344224tv5.jpg

Now just pop the wheel on there. Works great for sanding tires down to visually pleasing dimensions, which is what I use it for.

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/2121/10334706eu6.jpg

Hope it helps.

Keep it up with the s2000. It looks great thus far.

Thanks so much!! That is pure genius!!!!! And it's so simple I feel stupid for not thinking of it. I've got some Fujimi metal axels too! Here I was trying to use some Aoshima plastic spindles and they were just twisting off (which shoulda been obvious). Thanks very much to bigfrit and stryfe101 as well for your suggestions. But A. I don't want to increase the diameter of the wheel what so ever, they're already 19" and don't need to be any bigger.... especially on a S2000. and B. I DO have sets of wheels with the seperate lips, but don't want to scrap a set of wheels for em, I also don't have the suplies or the funds to get the suplies to cast em either. They are good suggestions as well though! But I'm definitely gonna give sileightsix's suggestion a try. Thanks very much guys!!

energon

BUT, I think I may have made it a little too deep for this car, tell me what you think, it doesn't seem toooo bad, but it kinda seems a little too deep.

Yay, another update, thanks for keeping us up to date dude, seems like it's very close to completion, eh!

And sadly, i think it's also too deep. I 'd half the depth on the rear, but then that's just me.

eitherway, go the extra mile, finish it when you're ready and make it just as good as you can do!

rsxse240
03-25-2008, 06:48 PM
To deep? NO! That would look fan-freakin'-tastic if you painted the centers a light metal color (silver, light gunmetal, bronze, gold, etc) and painted the lip with alclad chrome. People would be asking where you got such DEEP rims, and you could boast that YOU made them! haha, man it really does look good.

energon
03-26-2008, 04:30 AM
Well, the plan is to paint them black with a red line along the edge of the lip. I've been seeing Te37s in that color scheme a lot lately and I love it. That 350Z I posted earlier has em, though the color of the car itself might not be the color of that 350Z. Maybe if the fronts were deepened a little as well, then the rear would look alright like they are. I dunno, I'll have to think about it some more.

energon
03-29-2008, 08:08 PM
Ok, the wheels are mostly done, I think I'll do a little putty work on the lips still to even things out a bit. They're not quite as deep, but still fairly deep, but I think they look pretty good now. So after I even things out a bit, the next step will be painting them black, and somehow putting the red stripe on. Also does anyone have one of those funk printers for printing decals? I would like to get some red versions of Aoshima's Volk and Rays engineering decals for the wheels. If you're willing to help me out with that PM me with details and how much you would want for em. Hopefully it'll only be a few more weeks before the weather's warm and dry enough to start primeing. Anyway... pics!!!

Well, it's been a LOOOOOONG time since I've been on AF here. Figured I'd drop some updates. A fair bit has changed since my last update on here. Anyone from SPC will have pretty much seen these updates already though. Decided to make some small changes to the front and side skirts.
