im not sure of how big the carb will be, somewhere around 600-650 cfm 4-barrel though....and 3" pipe for the exhaust....also an msd ignition....ok....that should cover anything i forgot

If I were you, id try and find a newer engine to get and work on that, hell even if its a 350 crate it'll be better than whats in that Z28

im just saying, because depending on what engine you have the most it came with out of the factory was 190.. and thats if you have the H.O. engine, but if you dont then you're looking at 140-160 hp, without whatever you're going to do. Im suggesting a new, better engine like an Lt1 because they have higher starting HP compared to the old 80s V8 that you have. But if you want to keep your current engine thats alright too, but i see you not running that quick of times down the 1/4 unless alot of work is done to the engine.

hmm...well thankyou alot for ur advice. thats really a let down that it only has 160 hp.....thats pussy shit...cuz my 86 300zx has 150......ill take that into consideration. but due to my budget i think ill still try. hes sellin me the car for 2 grand...and its perfect condition. so since im a teenager and i have a normal "im 16 i know everything" attitude...ill pry go for it just for kicks. it should still run pretty good.

For 2 grand thats pretty good and i'd take it.. also consider though that for a swap to be actually done and good it might go into the 5K or more range, depending on all what you do, so im just letting you know. Also it isnt a overnight thing, this will take probably months or so and people who decide to change out motors usually give up as they find it really hard, but im sure people here who have been threw it before will say that its really worth it in the end.

all i intend to do is freshen it up with that rebuild kit and put forged aluminum flat top pistons in it for a lil more pep....then maybe a cam for a more responsive power band. my friend who is real big into this type of thing said he would help me pull the motor and rebuild it. and maybe later ill put on the headers and carb/ intake manifold and see how good it runs. and while i have the engine out i was considering a double roller timing chain....i figure why the hell not

that pretty much what i want to do. but since im a teen and feel theres a need to be a badass....i want it to run good...so if some hot shot with a "souped up" ricer starts talkin shit......i can drop the pedal and leave him in the dust. no problem....so i think a good runnin 305 with a big carb/intake...nice flowmaster exhaust...and maybe msd ignition would cover it

build a 350 for it, but for the 305, what kind of rpms you wanna spin it at, if you only wanna spin it up to say around six grand id suggest a 550cfm carb
