How much is a 95 Accent worth?

I've been looking at a 95 Accent 2 door hatch with the 5 speed that's for sale. Odometer reads 92500 kms (57500 miles). Paint is chipped pretty bad on the bumper and in one spot on the hood. There's a bit of rust on the rear fender lips. It needs a starter, oilpan and radiator. I pressed the clutch pedal and initially it sank to the floor, on the second press it didn't. The car doesn't have a radio. The tires and floor look to be in good shape. That's about all I know about it at the moment. I'm looking to replace my 93 Ford Crown Victoria because the price of gas is too high for me to keep driving it.

I have a 2000 with 93,000 on it. It is worth $1100 trade-in maybe and/or $2000 tops in a private sale. A car with 11 years and (probably 193,000) on it is worthless. You will wind up having to pay the junk yard to come and take it away. I bought a Ford Escort for $500 that was about 10 years old with 128,000 on it. I had to put in $700 worth of work to get it on the road. It lasted a year. It was in better shape than what you are describing. I too thought better a car that I own than pay the man $X which is probably big bucks since you are thinking of this move instead. You'd be better putting $500 down on a $5,000 used car and do a car fax and pay it off over 3 or 4 years. Unless you happen to be Henry Ford in which case you will notice a lot of similarities between the original 4 cylinder engine on the Model T and the Hyundai alpha 1.5. Outside of fuel injection, they are both amazingly similar to look at. Anyway - good luck and do your homework. You have to be able to get a better deal on something else. The adage "All that glitters is not Gold" comes to mind. I'd really think about this if I were you. All the best just the same. Sorry, a little early in the morning for me and memory being a fleeting thing these days I didn't realize you meant kms. I can't imagine who would own a car for 11 years and put 57,500 miles on it. Even said, you can add a new water pump and timing belt to the car at this point $400. If it is not being given to you, you might be better off calling a charitable organization and see what they have to offer. It's worth a shot. Many people trade perfectly good cars like your 93 Ford just to write off because they are good cars but they need a new one. I'd look into that or something with a car-fax. Even if this car has that low a mileage, that can be both good and bad. The parts are still 11 years old and if the car was not used regularly and you are planning to commute with it you will be in for some serious road trips. Anyway - have a good weekend and sleep on it.

ok, well the first question i have to ask is how much is the car going for? i have a 1995 accent with 80,000 miles, private party i would be lucky to get 1k for it. from the description you gave us i would say that particular accent is worth little to nothing . you also have to figure in the cost to get it back on the road.
Radiator..........about $100 dollars
Starter...........about $85 dollars
oil pan...........???? maybe like 30 dollars?
the problem with the clutch sounds to me like air in the lines. so, you will hvae to bleed you clutch lines, which is no big deal, thats FREE! and as for the rust on the fender, rust is like cancer for a car, that will have to be taken care of right away! you could go get a 5 dollar can of rustolium (<correct spelling?) and spray that on it, works wonders. the hood and bumper is completely a personal choice. im sure you are not buying this car to be a show car but just to get you from point A to point B, but if the paint is cracked and flaking you will have to treat it with some anti-rust agent so you dont have a terrible mess! I happen to love my little accent, she gets me anywhere i want t go with no problems at all. and they are a fairly fun car to drive. they are fairly nimble and have some pep under the hood for being a 1.5L. anyway i gave you as much info as i can, i agree with freddy, i would definately sleep on this one. if the car has these problems now, and it has sat for a while, which is never good, you just dont know what you are getting yourself into. well good luck, and post back as to wether you got the car or not!
