2001 Escape won't crank

I have a '01 Escape (used) that has been running fine with out problems since I purchased it about 3 years ago. While out running errands, I parked at a store and ran in and when I was ready to leave the car would not crank. It was running fine and then nothing. Since it is a manual transmission I was able to push it off with out any problem and got it to an auto store which determined that the battery was good, as were the spark plugs. When I turn the key I get full power, (radio, windows, gauges, etc.) no clicking or engine noise. Could this be something related to the key (no, I don't have another key to try...kicking myself!), alarm, or something equally as mind numbing or are we talking starter, ignition, etc. Would resetting the computer help or should I just give in and push it off and get it to the dealership?:banghead:
Thanks in advance!

You MAY have a bad clutch interlock switch. It is located on the clutch pedal and it is what inhibits the vehicle from starting unless the clutch pedal is depressed(pushed in - not sad). Pretty easy to fix and cheap from the dealer - under 20 bucks! Good place to start if you want to throw parts at her. I hope this helps. MM.

Check the battery...my 01 has a failing battery...i had to add water and charges it. Should have 12.6 volts and at least 9.6 during the cranking stage. YOu need a voltmeter to check this and have someone crank it while you read it. Or take it to autozone or kragen's.

See my new post...I had to buy a new battery, but I ran into problems because of the "unique" size. Apparently, they want you to buy it at the stealership. I ended up buying an Optima at Costco and it is fantastic.
