A/C Help - Replaced Resistor & Blower Mtr

I need help. I took my car to 3 diff shops. Each said my blower mtr resistor was bad (not getting lower speeds). So my husband replaced the resistor and it worked great for a few weeks. Then it wouldn't work at all. We took it back to the dealer and 2 indepent shops. Told us it was the blower motor. We had that replaced and it still doesn't work. The shops said the system checks out & the fuse is not blown. They can't tell me what is wrong but said they can replace the AC Control Head to trouble shoot any problems. Any thoughts? You can still turn the compressor on, change the vents(from defrost, feet, head & feet or just head position) and change the air flow from outside to inside on the circulation.:banghead:

Before possibly wasting money on the climate control head unit the 12v volts should be checked at the HVAC fuses. You may have bad contacts in the ignition switch causing the problem. If voltage is missing then you back track to the ignition switch. If present then you may have another bad blower motor resistor or a connection problem at the blower motor or worse case head unit.

One HVAC fuse is located at the engine compartment fuse box - Minifuse #53.

The other at the passenger side fuse box - Minifuse # D

Thanks for the help. We checked the fuses, engine & side locations. They are good. We also checked the power flow to the blower motor and it is okay. We also changed out the resistor again. No luck. How do we check the ignition connectors? Any thoughts on that?

Other than checking the fuses visually or for continuity did you check the voltage at each fuse socket for 12 volts depending on where you have the HVAC settings. You can use a test light or multimeter. For one of the HVAC fuses the fan must be in high (posiition 5). The 12 volts there comes from the ignition switch.

Also, you may have to pull the head unit and check the output voltage going to the blower motor resistor varying the fan in positions 1 - 5.

When you checked power flow to the blower motor how did you do it? If it is good the blower should be working. You can bench test the blower motor by applying 12 volts to the input pin. If its spins then it is good.
