Line-x Question

I bought an '02 a few months ago, and it had a drop-in liner from the previous owner that had been placed OVER a Line-x to cover a paint spill. I finally got around to taking out the drop-in. The paint spill is not too bad, but pretty thick in one place. Anybody know how I can get paint off without damaging the spray-in liner? Am I going to need it repaired by Line-X?

PS - the drop-in is for sale if you live in Orange County, CA. It's in great shape. Let me know if anybody is interested....

I’ve seen a spray/roll on bed liner kit around, I don’t know if it will work on Line-X liners it’s designed to refurbish roll on, possibly red tip on a power washer to get the paint off then roll some of it on?

Thanks, I'll probably try that. I actually ended up calling a local Line-x dealer who told me to try Naval Jelly and a wire brush. I'll probably try the power washer first. I'll post the results back here in case anybody else happens to spill paint on theirs.

No problem, I got to thinking about it be carefull with the red tip on the power washer it might take more out then you want, The Naval Jelly and a wire brush is a good idea.

Update for anybody who is interested... The Naval Jelly doesn't seem to do much but spread the stain. It thinned it a little anyway. I might not have left it on long enough. Tried a power washer with all the different tips my buddy had, yellow got a lot off in some places, but nothing in others, regardless of thickness. Red did a little better, but definitely had to keep it moving! In the one spot where the paint is really thick, it came off in chunks, but it looked like it was going to start taking small chunks out of the liner a too. So we stopped before we made any holes.

Yeah you have to watch it with the red tips, Try using a wire brush at all?

Forgot to mention, yeah, I used a wire brush too. Worked ok at knocking off some of the thicker stuff in combination with the jelly.

Your local Line-X dealer can topcoat that liner for you and have it looking like brand new. Shouldn't cost too much. Check out www.linexpics.com (http://www.linexpics.com) for some custom bedliner work.

So you like his product but not his biased advice? I dont see what's wrong with suggesting a topcoat. Probably < $100. :2cents:

It's not that we have a problem with the product, or him recommending one. The problem is that the past few days there have been several spammers on here advertising their products, and this guy is one of them. He brought back a old post just because it had a reference to spray in bedliners so he could push the product. It is a relatively new marketing technique where advertisers pose as people like us.

Frankly, if you are an expert on BF tires, and work with them daily, and you recommend them to me, that is no problem. The problem is that the guy is not a regular forum poster who reads and gives advice for other things, he is just a spammer for one topic.

This appears to be the only post where he offered any real advice, good or bad. Heck, he even gave me the same advice a local expert did. But since most of the posts I saw from him were digging up old liner related posts and saying "Check out <whatever his url was>" and little else, I agree with wrparks - spammer.

Line X blows. I just put a tinted urethane bedliner in, and I will never get a dull faded black liner again.

I used SEM Pro-tex Kit from eastwoodco.com. You can clean that bedliner thoroughly with some acetone (yes it will soften slightly). The geta pint of your trucks color code paint froma local autobody paint store, follow instructions and BAM! Your sitting in high cotton.
