Steering noise.

I know I've posted this once before, but I didn't get the answers I thought would help me-only because I wasn't very descriptive.
97 Continental
148,000 mi.
Problem- when steering left and occasionally steering right, a clicking, popping, and slight grinding feel comes from the wheel well. I know for certain a majority of the noise is the drivers side, but I cannot determine if I hear it from the passengers side too(no one to help me).
At one point someone suggested it could just be the steering boot slipping... but I don't believe that.
Someone else said CV boots...I think this is possible, but I hope its not because those are a pain to replace(did them on a 94 Pontiac Sunbird).
Another was ball joints... This sounds plausible.
Lastly they said bearings...I am doubting this; I only hear it when I steer.

Please help(again)!
Thank you!
