i was replacing one of my tail light bulbs and i went to test it and realized that the break lights did light up at all. i press the pedal and they didnt light up. i check the fuse and everything else on that circut works. since i do not drive behind my own car, i dont know how long i have had no brake lights for.

what is wrong and how can i fix this?

check your brake light switch. Its right off the brake pedal lever. every tine you depress the brake pedal, it hits a switch which tells the brake lights to go on. check for continuity (resistance) between the two wires that come off of the switch. With the pedal pressed, you should have continuity, a.k.a the resistance should drop to 0. With the pedal up, risistance should be high and no continuity

Edit: Also, are you sure you put in the correct bulb? And put it in properly? Goofy shit happens when the wrong bulb is used.

im pretty sure i used the right bulbs. i looked up the bulb # at the autoparts store. i read in another thread that the break lights run through the same circut as the horn. i noticed that my horn stopped workin, so im guessing that just the fuse for the horn is blown

you cant have high resistance and no continuity cause if the circuit is open then there can be no resistance cause it is not a complete circuit.

He means that it will show a 1, or infinite resistance...as opposed to a 0 for a closed perfect circuit.

oh ok missunderstanding then i thought he meant something else.
