Im installing a new stereo head in my 1995 cavaleir and i am currently mounting it in the Metra Car Stereo Installation Kit. Im on the step where you remove the factory radio and remove the metal brackets of the sid of the radio.... the manuel says the screw off but the brackets on my radio have no screws and seam to be welded on.. what my question is, is how would i remove the brackets and if i cant were can i buy some brackets that will work with my car?

not sure if im following you right but...

The brackets that are welded on or are just a solid piece of your factory deck shouldnt need to be removed. The deck itself shouldnt be welded onto your plastic cluster piece, you should be able to remove the 2 screws holding the factory unit on and just remove it and its brackets.

What you may need from your factory deck is the screws that held it in, your install kit, im assuming of course from my experience, should include a black plastic mount that has its own mounting brackets w/ screw holes that turns your 1.5 dimm opening to a 1 dimm opening for most standard decks.

btw, make sure your kit has a GM wiring harness to wire your aftermarket headunit to, you might also need an antenna attachment to plug your antenna wire in.

aye, you shouldnt need those and you cant just unscrew them anyhow, your kit should have included a plastic mount like the one in this pic (not exact becouse i think this one is for a headunit with knobs) but regardless, it should have those brackets already on it, and you put that piece around your headunit using the tabs on the headunit to hold it in place, and screw it into your cluster piece.
