I'm switching to the darkside:biggrin:.

I'll be ordering my new MacBook this coming Monday/Tuesday! I was going to go the route of an Alienware m5500, but decided against it after reading up on the company and seeing what AW owners had to say overall about their machines. I guess they tend to have problems only a few months into ownership and the repair depots are more than lacking in workmanship.

So, I'm getting a white MacBook instead:smile:.

Here's what it packs:

--2.0GHz Intel Core Duo Processor
--13.3 in TFT Widescreen Display with built in iSight camera
--100GB HDD
--512MB of RAM (will upgrade after purchase)
--DVD/CD RW SuperDrive
--AirPort Extreme Card & Bluetooth
--Mac OS X
--Office 2004
--Last but not least $350 cheaper :bigthumb:.

Also a quick question, does anyone know how much memory the Mac OS X Operating System takes up? Just curious.

Anyway, I will post pics when I get it .

Any thoughts/opinions/comments from Mac users/owners are welcome:smile:.

me=wicked excited.

Sounds like a pretty sweet machine, I don't know how much memory OS X supports, but I can't imagine it being less than XPs 4gb.

The only upgrade I would do would be another 1gb stick of RAM.

Nice buy. :)

Alienware was bought out by Dell. And while Alienware maybe a few months in, Macs are a few days. :p

And dave put it best. Get a real mouse!

Well, I expected to have these pictures up sooner, but seeing as I ran into a money issue soon after I posted this thread, I was unable to make the purchase of my computer until a week ago, getting yesterday in the mail. Anyway, here are a few pics I took today at lunch.

I'm liking it a lot so far. I've got wireless access back in my bay at work (where I am right now) and can keep myself busy while I'm not washing cars. Surprisingly, the white is easy to keep clean. Stuff wipes off of it pretty easily and when I get my keyboard cover (for when it's closed or not in use) I should be good to go.

All in all, I'm happy with teh purchase and will definitely consider a mac if I need a new desktop (though i don't think I'll need one for a couple more years or so).

when the times i'm considering a mac. i've read where with the dual core Intel chips you can partition the hard drive and run Mac OS X (or whatever) on it and Windows. personally i like windows. but some things on mac are cool i guess. i probably won't be able to justify the price though for having something i would rarely use

lol, whiners. Yeah, you can partition the drive, though I've heard of several occasions where multiple attempts have been required.

I plan on using this strictly for education. The only things I plan on having downloaded on it are a chat client (just got adium) and my full-tilt poker client. I'm sure I'll be on it quite a bit while I'm in D.C and I'm confident that the majority of the use will be for writing stories, going over interviews (transcription from audio, taking down responses, etc) and sending emails.

Still, runs great, runs fast and for the use I'm going to get out of it, was worth the price of admission:smile:.
